What is a Pastoral Reference Conference?

In partnership with Living Leadership, these conferences are specially tailored to the needs of leaders, with refreshment and encouragement through Bible talks, discussion groups, prayer and space. With an emphasis on experiencing God’s grace, our annual Pastoral Refreshment Conferences are regularly described as an essential oasis where church leaders and their spouses can take a step back from daily ministry demands, share fellowship with others in similar contexts, be prayed for, and be refreshed for the seasons ahead.

The conference takes place at Newby Bridge Hotel in Cumbria.

Theme 2027: Grace for Troubled Days

This year's theme is Grace for Troubled Days. Our speaker, John Hindley, will be leading us through passages of John’s Gospel, looking at how Christ connects with troubled people.

John Hindley

Having grown up in a Christian home, John was saved as a university student in Exeter through the ordinary preaching of Christ at a faithful church. The Spirit brought him to Christ by a conviction of his sin, leading him to repent of his self-righteousness.

The Lord has given him a godly wife and four children. He has also gifted him with an ongoing sense of weakness and brokenness, in himself, his church family and his friends.

Programme

The conference starts on Monday with check-in from 3pm, and ends after lunch on Wednesday. Each day has a main talk from the speaker, discussion groups as well as opportunities to pray with the team. You can attend as much or as little as you need.

Activities

There is plenty of space in the programme for you to rest, relax and enjoy the Lake District. The hotel has a swimming pool, there are beautiful walks nearby, as well as local cafes. Do bring suitable attire for the Lake District weather.
