Revelation: A Truth Holding Church

Andy Robinson speaks on "A truth-holding church" from Revelation 2:12-29.

The future of the church – at least in Asia Minor – was threatened from without by persecution and within by false teaching, idolatry and immorality. The words of the risen Christ come, with similar pattern, in every letter. Although rooted in history, and particular, yet they are meant for wider audience and they are very contemporary.

In Revelation 2:12-29 we are introduced to Pergamum and Thyatira. Although one is characterised by faithfulness in the face of suffering and the other by authentic discipleship marked by faith and love, both put up with false teaching that has catastrophic consequences in idolatry and sexual immorality.
