We want children and young people to get to know Jesus, have fun, be safe, and build lasting relationships. If your child or young person has any additional needs, here are a few things to note when considering joining one of our groups:
Any age group can have 80 to 300 children, with Weeks 2 and 3 being larger than Week 1.
Groups can be noisy and overwhelming for some.
To support your family, we can provide the following:
The Disability & Additional Needs Advisor for Keswick Ministries will be available each week, and you can contact them to discuss your visit.
We have an Additional Needs Coordinator for Kids & Youth, along with a small volunteer team for children and youth who may need some extra support.
There is a 'Quieter Area' in the Youth Venues for those who may need to step away for a moment.
There are small tents with sensory toys in each Kids' venue.
Whilst we cannot provide 1:1 support, do let us know if this is what your child needs to access the programme.
We want to provide the best possible support for children experiencing high levels of anxiety, especially where it can lead to challenging behaviour. In this case, we may ask a parent/carer to stay for the sessions or to attend future sessions (where it's in the best interest of both the child and the age group). This can be reviewed daily, and we are happy to adjust our plan if the child begins to feel more settled.
While we don't have a separate SEND stream, our additional needs team (or age group team) can make reasonable adjustments so children can access their age group sessions. Please let us know any additional needs at registration (even if not diagnosed), so the Additional Needs Team leader can contact you to chat things though?
We run a welcome session each Sunday afternoon for those who would appreciate a 'first look', including a guided tour and a chance to get your wristbands.
There is a family meet-up each week for parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs or disabilities, with activities for the children.
The provision we make through our wonderful volunteers is growing, developing, and under constant review. We always welcome dialogue with parents/carers as we strive, in partnership with you, to ensure the best provision for all children.
