What The Church Can Learn From Lamentations: Complaining Against God | School Of Biblical
Rico Villanueva speaks on “What the Church can learn from Lamentations.”
Complaining Against God
One of the things that was lost when Christianity separated from its Jewish roots is the dialectic between trust and questioning which is very much alive in the Old Testament and to some extent in the New Testament. The Christian response became characterised solely by an unquestioning trust. This has moral and political implications. This session argues for the recovery of the tradition known in Jewish tradition as chutzpah – the audacity to express one’s complaints before God.
