The Book of Lamentations is known to many Christians through the song Great is Thy Faithfulness. Unfortunately, this song only took two verses from Lamentations 3:24-25 and ignored the rest of the book. As a result, the important message of the place of tragic in the life of faith was lost. The Christianity we have inherited has become too triumphalistic, leaving no room for loss, failure, and defeat. How tragic!
